About Us
Walters Tax & Bookkeeping
Service was formed in August 1987. We looked at several
locations and decided to establish the business in the small
town of D’Iberville, Mississippi.
Mrs.
Walters was returning to private practice and her goals were to
provide professional, experienced, courteous, and confidential
Income Tax and Bookkeeping services in a small town setting.
These
past 23 years have passed quickly and we are very grateful for
the support we have received from the community. Our Past and

NANCY S. WALTERS EA, ATA, Fellow (NTPI)
Nancy began her 40- year career in the
tax preparation field in August 1969. During the 1969-1971 time
frame, she was trying to decide what she wanted to be when she
grew up!! What followed were a few years of getting licenses in
real estate, tax preparation, securities and insurance licenses
and dabbling in all of those fields while continuing her
education.
By late 1971, Nancy decided she wanted
to concentrate on the Tax and Accounting fields and accepted a
full-time position with a National Tax Preparation firm. She
rose through their ranks and became a Regional Director of five
states. Each promotion meant another move and she and her family
moved 5 times in a 15-year period.
In 1986, she was ready to stop traveling
and come home to Mississippi. She and her daughter, Tina
Simmons, opened Walters Tax & Bookkeeping Service. They haven’t
looked back since.
Nancy is an Enrolled Agent (1979),
Accredited Tax Advisor (1991), and a Fellow with the National
Tax Practice Institute (1995).
Nancy has been recognized for her
community service with the presentation of the City of
D’Iberville Bobby Eleuterius Volunteer award in 2000, A George
Hixson volunteer award in 2000, Kiwanis Lay Person of the year
for 2003-2004 and the Mary Buchanan Community Service Award in
2007.
TINA A. SIMMONS EA
Tina is a founding member of Walters Tax
& Bookkeeping. She was in her last year in High school when she
joined her mother, Nancy Walters, in the firm (1987). While
working in the firm as receptionist, processor and girl Friday,
She graduated High School and went on to the Jackson County
Junior College with an emphasis on Tax & Accounting. During her
college days, she began advanced studies in taxation and joined
the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. Tina began
her tax & bookkeeping career in 1991.
Tina decided to take the next step and
study for the Enrolled Agent license. She received her license
and EA designation in May 2003.
Each year Tina attends Seminars and
Conferences for Continuing Education Credits and to stay up to
date on all new Tax Law changes.
TONYA THAMES
Tonya joined the staff of Walters Tax &
Bookkeeping in December 2005.
After High School, Tonya attended
Jefferson Davis Community College with an emphasis on Business
Mgmt. While attending school Tonya worked in the Finance
Department of a local firm and as a Cashier at a local casino.
She became interested in the tax preparation field in 2001 and
began working in the field in 2002. Tonya continues to broaden
her education and is currently studying to take the Enrolled
Agent Exam in 2010.
LORI CRUSE
Lori joined our firm in 1999 as our
Office Manager, Quality Review Manager and Bookkeeping & Payroll
Associate. Before joining our firm, Lori was working with our
local Chamber of Commerce and we sort of “stole her”. After
attending Jefferson Davis Community College, Lori worked with
several local companies in Administrative positions. Lori
completed her first Tax & Bookkeeping courses in late 1999 and
completes over 40 hours annually in Continuing Professional
Education. Lori is joining her colleagues in studying for the
Enrolled Agents exam.
